Children and Families

The Children and Families consortia-building group will be holding an event in HMP Holloway on 27th September, 10.00-12.30, bringing together Children's Services Directors and children and families workers with the aim of developing better co-ordination between the statutory and voluntary and community sectors.

Women

The Womens' consortia-building group will be holding an event at HMP Holloway on 10th October, 10.00-16.00 aimed at mapping the provision of voluntary and community sector work in the prison. The morning will focus on developing better links between providers, while the afternoon will provide an opportunity for organisations to engage directly with women in the prison.

What is PiRR?

PiRR is a pan-London project, aimed at building effective partnerships between voluntary and community sector organisations to reduce levels of re-offending.

Commissioned by the NOMS Voluntary Sector Unit in the Home Office, PiRR is part of the Correctional Services Strand of the ChangeUp Public Service Priority Programme. It is one of several pilot projects aimed at exploring the development of constructive joint-working between large voluntary sector organisations with smaller voluntary service providers.

The Aim

To increase the ability of the London-based voluntary and community sector to work effectively in partnership and meet the reducing re-offending objectives of the Regional Offender Manager for London.

Achieving the Aim

Revolving Doors will:

  1. Mediate and communicate between the ROM for London and the service providers of the voluntary and community sector (please see PiRR Newsletter [download March 2006 edition]
  2. Develop a model for the successful building of consortia between voluntary and community sector organisations to deliver effective packages of support to meet the holistic needs of offenders in London
  3. Facilitate a skills sharing service between voluntary sector organisations to guarantee their competitiveness as service providers to the ROM and their capacity to deliver high quality services

Who can be involved in PiRR?

  1. Current voluntary and community sector providers of services to offenders, prison or probation in London
  2. Voluntary and community sector service providers, interested in developing services for offenders, prison or probation in London
  3. Voluntary and community sector service providers from outside London, interested in developing services for offenders, prison or probation in London
  4. Organisations (private, statutory or charities), interested in contributing to the expansion of the skills and capacity of voluntary and community sector providers of services to offenders, prison and probation in London
  5. Current or former user of services within the criminal justice system
